In as actually wanted to see the movie because I'm a big William Levy fan and a romance sucker. So I loved the idea of the storyline. It being in Spanish made it that much more awesome. Los conservadores y liberales cada vez veían mas cerca sus metas, uno de los objetivos mas claros del frente nacional era crear la paz del país y acabar con los grupos.

Los acuerdos para crear el frente nacional:

 Paridad entre liberales y conservadores para ocupar cargos públicos
 Alternar el cargo de presidente de la Republica
 Tratar de acabar el odio entre los dos partidos.

Por acuerdo se escogió el liberal Alberto Lleras Camargo para que se convirtiera en el primer jefe de estado.
Su mandato afronto problemas de desempleo y violencia, así como un exagerado crecimiento urbano debido a la migración de miles de campesinos, al mismo tiempo apareció un notorio incremento de movimientos insurgentes tanto en Colombia como en Latinoamérica.
Guillermo León valencia asumió el poder en 1962, Valencia continuo con los planes de gobierno de Lleras, permitió que se diera una recuperación económica significativa.
Es evidente que los gobiernos del Frente Nacional se preocuparon por combatir la violencia, también durante este periodo se intentó llevar varias veces a cabo una reforma agraria con el fin de repartir pequeñas parcelas a los campesinos, pero el proceso fue lento y poco eficiente.

SURGIMIENTO DE LAS GUERRILLAS EN COLOMBIA

Algunos colombianos siguieron las ideologías del “Che Guevara” que proponía crear los focos guerrilleros con tal de encontrar estabilidad política y económica de las naciones; Debido a esto se crea el movimiento Revolucionario Liberal , que iba en contra del acuerdo bipartidista, y buscaba la adecuación del esquema socialista en Colombia.
Las guerrillas con raíces en el conflicto conservador liberal seguían sus actividades en la segunda época del insurgimiento bajo otra motivación y formaban frecuentemente un impulso principal de las agrupaciones nuevas como EPL.
Las FARC, la UC-ELN y el EPL, no obstante sus diferencias de trayectoria políticas e ideológicas, conforman la coordinadora guerrillera Simón Bolívar. Ante el surgimiento de las guerrillas y su pretensión de ganar influencia sobre la población campesina y sobre los movimientos populares urbanos, el estado colombiano desarrollo desde los años sesenta, una estrategia contrainsurgente bajo la orientación de la llamada “doctrina de la seguridad nacional”, que se aplicó con rigor a partir del gobierno del presidente Turbay, con un saldo de graves violaciones a los derechos humanos. No obstante que la pretensión aparente de la política contrainsurgente era la derrota de los grupos guerrilleros, ella se aplico en la forma indiscriminada contra importantes sectores de la población campesina y del movimiento popular urbano que fueron seriamente afectados.

LA GUERRA FRIA EN COLOMBIA

La guerra fría, que originaba una polarización mundial en dos opiniones incompatibles (capitalismo versus socialismo) y que alimentaba la ideología de los guerrillas y el miedo de las fuerzas estatales que trataban de defenderse dentro de la estrategia de la Doctrina de la Seguridad Nacional.
El partido comunista colombiano empezaba cada vez a tener más auge y la sociedad obrera se identificaba cada día con sus ideologías, todo hubiera sido mejor sino fue por el acontecimiento del 9 de abril de 1948, debido a esto el gobierno rompió las relaciones con la URSS, ya que lo culpo del asesinato, debido a estos actos el gobierno tomó las políticas expuestas por los Estados Unidos.
La violencia de los partidos apareció, se crearon nuevas guerrillas; debido a un periodo de corrupción los partidos liberales y conservadores se opusieron a los planteamientos del gobierno y decidieron apoyar el llamado Frente Nacional.
Durante los años siguientes la guerra prosiguió, debido a esto apareció el narcotráfico y este se utilizó como medio para costearse este conflicto, luego la URSS empezó a desfallecer y sus ideas ya no eran tan convincentes.

Los funcionarios estadounidenses, preocupados por la presión soviética en Irán y Turquía interpretaron un discurso hecho por Stalin como la declaración de la guerra ideológica.
